Éva Circé-Côté French Immersion Public School
2026-2027 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
At ECC this year we will continue to focus on communicating with positive messages, and asking questions to learn more about the perspectives of others.
We are doing this because students who keep it positive promote optimism and good cheer. Positive messaging supports emotional regulation for ourselves and others. When disputes arise, we can ask questions to understand different perspectives and to seek mutually beneficial resolutions. Kids need help to develop these skills. They need instruction, guidance, and support from their school, family, and others who influence their development.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Adults will model and prompt for positive talk about self, others, and situations.
- We will use a common language and restorative conversations.
- Adults will teach students how to be curious about how others are feeling or what other people need in order to build empathy and problem solving skills.
Community and Home Connections
Adults can teach empathy by actively modeling compassionate behavior, explicitly discussing other perspectives, and validating children's emotions. A strong foundation of empathy is built when children feel securely loved, practice perspective-taking, and are encouraged to perform acts of kindness in their everyday lives.
